Life is slowly adjusting back to normal when it comes to travel, and with that comes a lot of eating out at restaurants if you are not prepared. Sure, there are healthy options few and far between, but when you’re hungry on the road it is so easy to find yourself at the fast-food restaurants.
Gathering food from your home or going to the grocery store beforehand will help prevent you from straying away from a healthier diet (unless you’re bringing junk food along with you of course) and can end save you money. You never know what restaurants are putting in your food and so it’s best to stay away as much as you can. The oils, grease, and fried foods are not what you should make a habit out of eating.
Sometimes it can be difficult to figure out items that will be okay to travel with for long periods of time or are convenient enough to take on the road. Here is a list of healthier snack ideas to get you started:
- Protein bar
- Protein shake
- Rice cakes with some type of nut butter
- Cheese sticks
- Beef jerky
If you have a small cooler to take along:
- Greek yogurt
- Chopped cucumbers & tomatoes
- Leftovers or prepared meals from home
- Hard boiled eggs
Hopefully this list gives you some inspiration for your next road trip!
